We began our research by looking at borders from a linguistic, historic and poetic points of view. We then personally reflected on our research and each had his own and personal conclusion about borders.

 

Out of our personal conclusions we wrote stories, then we searched for the underlying message within each story to see the overlaps among them. These overlaps describe two words, transition and plurality. These words are the abstract essence of our topic - borders, in other words, borders are:

 

A TRANSITION TO PLURALITY

 

With our abstract field of research and final sentence, we wrote scripts and interpreted them by senses. Those senses were then translated into abstract images that were described by words. Those words were then overlapped and condensed into recipes for creating materials fitting to our abstract sentence.

 

Next, we gathered a variety of materials to begin our material library. From these initial materials we created samples, which led us to making many cuts and selections. The final material sample selections were then arranged by the different properties they hold (surface / color / filler / construction / glue), which led us to realize that our best samples are mixtures of polystyrene and acetone.

 

Finally focusing on a new raw material for the market. A putty that is made of polystyrene and acetone. It can be used as a construction, filler, surface or glue. Yet the best feature is that it can be easily recycled, thus enabling a transition to plurality. We call it, PLUR.
